Day 1 (Friday, 05.09.): To Chatham like in a movie. On the first day of the program we arrive at the shores of the “Golyam Beglik” dam and make a transition to the “Chatma” Forest Center and step by step we quickly get to know each other. In the early afternoon we reach the main stage, where our cinema adventure will take place. We organize our camp, get to know the place and its rules and it is time for our first encounter with the big topic “Cinema”.
KinoKlass Topic: We start with the basics – what cinema is, what its means of expression are, what its meaning and its power are. We share together around the campfire our expectations and wishes for the upcoming camp.
Day 2 (Saturday, September 6): Finding our place. Our first full day together begins with warm-up games in which we will learn more about each other, connect, and begin to build trust and a good relationship in the group. Maps and compasses will guide us on the path of discovering our place in creating a creative project.
KinoKlass Topic: A film is created with sequential steps and the arrangement of its various components. We will learn what a script is, how a story develops, what is the message we are looking for when creating a film. Characters. Stages of the creation of a film work.
Day 3 (Sunday, 07.09.): Getting to the core. We are getting closer and getting to know each other's strengths and weaknesses, we start working together and helping each other with different tasks at the camp. Everyone has their own place, tries different activities and understands more about themselves and others.
KinoKlass Topic: Just like in our camp life, there are different professions and different stages of filmmaking in cinema. We begin to refract our everyday experiences through the prism of cinema. We lay the foundations of a camp film script, reflecting on themes such as “the power of living in harmony with nature” and “the need to challenge yourself in order to grow.” At the end of the day, we have a ready-made script to work on and an allocation of team tasks in which we feel most confident and are most attracted to.
Day 4 (Monday, 08.09.): Hectic work. We start the work process right after breakfast!
KinoKlass Topic: We have an idea and we start preparing what we are going to film. The film crew is divided into groups and tasks are distributed to different positions. Directors, screenwriters, cameramen, editors, actors... Everyone is ready.
To cool things down, we go for a short bike ride with a picnic in the forest, but we are already in our positions – each individual group is performing its first tasks in the film production.
Back at camp, we analyze the entire process and our feelings about its dynamics. The campfire crackles, its sparks reflected in excited eyes.
Day 5 (Tuesday, 09.09.): Photos, photos, photos. We have breakfast, warm up, and rush to our movie assignments.
KinoKlass Topic: We have already actively entered the work on the film and are starting to collect video material. From now on, everyday life will not be the same – getting up, cooking, evening fire and all other activities of camp life will be the subject of our attention. We will film, we will re-enact different moments in order to recreate our idea in the best way. Different teams will film different activities, but everyone will invariably be involved in the process.
On this day, we will be at Chatham and experience its life with all its emotional and everyday moments, from opening our eyes in the tent to the excitement in the kitchen and the warmth of the campfire.
Day 6 (Wednesday, September 10): Analysis of the video material and editing.
KinoKlass Topic: We start the day by watching and analyzing the visual picture. We collect all the materials shot the previous day and select the best parts to be included in the film. Part of the team starts working on the editing and, together with an editing teacher, prepares material for viewing and analysis in the afternoon.
To relax from working on the film, part of the group and I will feel the air under our feet, climbing the Chatham rope garden.
In the evening we look at the finished material and analyze the result and its visual qualities.
Day 7 (Thursday, September 11): Sound and sound processing.
KinoKlass Topic: On this day, our attention will be focused on the next important element of a film – sound. We listen to sound recordings and analyze them. We process the collected sound material to apply it to the video.
We go to the rope garden with those who were engaged in video editing the previous day.
In the evening we analyze the work on the recordings and the overall workflow.
Day 8 (Friday, 12.09.): Disbandment. And the premiere! Our film is almost ready, but a pinch of adventure is needed to give it a finished look. Right after breakfast we head to Chatham Canoe and Kayak for a quick briefing and get in the water. We'll head to the large island in the middle of the dam, peek into its cave, and shoot a few more exciting shots for the film's evening premiere.
We return to Chatham around noon and begin work on the final touches to our film.
KinoKlass Topic: The premiere is tonight! And it will be for us as well as for all the guests of the Chatham Forest Center. Therefore, in the afternoon hours we will make final adjustments to the finished film in order to present it to the public. The artists are also involved in preparing for the premiere, because what is a film without advertising and a captivating poster?
Day 9 (Saturday, September 13): Analysis, farewell, we continue. The last day of our camp arrives, and we get up early to welcome the last camp sunrise together.
KinoKlass Topic: We gather for a final meeting, where we will analyze the entire process of creating a film from start to finish. Everyone shares their personal experience and development during the film training camp. What did I go through, what did I learn, did I change in the process of working, where did I end up compared to my expectations at the beginning of the camp?
We have lunch at Chatham, pack up our camp, and wish each other future creative projects together. The group heads out on its final trek to the point where we first met, but with more knowledge and a different worldview through the eyes of cinema.
* The program described in this way may undergo minor changes at the team's discretion, depending on the individual characteristics of the group and weather conditions.
